BlindSearch - Who is better Google, Bing or Yahoo

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Michael Kordahi, an employee at Microsoft, opened up his project for the public. It allows users to search in Google, Bing and Yahoo from only one box and see which one is better...not aggregating but it is showing the results in an interesting way.

When a user searches, results come up in 3 sections and every section has a button on its top to VOTE. You are not told which results are from which site. After clicking the button you get to know which results are from Google, Yahoo or bing.

The results surprise you as they are not from Google most of the time.

After 8 weeks of the launching, Michael Kordahi opened some stats:

Query count: 559,239

Results: Google: 41%, Bing: 31%, Yahoo: 28%

These facts show that there is no big difference between all these search engines.

So what does that mean, Can we believe the results or Michael has done a great job.

According to Michael Kordahi "I work for Microsoft. This site is not affiliated with my employer, it is not a Microsoft initiative, it's simply me having fun in my spare time."

Let me know what you believe.
